Poor Clare

Occidental College, Fall 2024

This page shows the pattern making process for Poor Clare. Costumes were patterned in CLO3D software. Then renderings were made with the same software. The garment renders feature custom fabric textures from fabrics swatched in the L.A. garment district.

The pattern shown is for the character, Ortolana, as pictured in the first illustration

The video shows transitions from scene to scene in Act I of the play Poor Clare. The character illustrated, Clare, is in every scene for Act I—so the actor can only leave the stage for a few moments between scenes to change. Each new accessory works as a storytelling device to show the passage of time and place Clare in the situation and locale specified for each scene.
